1.
Let's go outside, the storm passed over. Make sure the screen door closes behind you so the cat doesn't get out!
2.
Would you listen to them birds. There's gotta be fifty of 'em up there in the tree! Could you g'down back and throw some bread out?
3.
This is the kinda day ya want to just stay inside. You want some hot chocolate?
4.
It's a beautiful day out, let's open up the window and get some fresh air in here. Oh, the suns coming out!

Hey, pull off over here a second... yeah, right next to the pond... now roll down yer window and turn off the car. Hear that?
7.
Don't go too far past that brook down there, it's all skunk cabbage and pricker bushes after that. Hey, if you're going down back, y'mind changing out the salt lick too?

It's a monkey's birthday!
9.
It's raining, it's pouring, the old man is snoring!
10.

What should I have for a snack, an emptied out plastic Land-O-Lakes container full of Cheez Its or an emptied out plastic Land-O-Lakes container full of Teddy Grahams?

about

Rural Massachusetts

2002

Having grown up in central Massachusetts among somnolent one-horse towns and sprawling acres of orchards and farmland, my earliest memories of life are steeped in the motley shades of New England's ever changing seasons, the pale pastels of the 90s' afterglow, and the rich hues of the film on which my first years of life were captured.

But what photographs and even videos often lose in translation between past and present are the sounds; those mundane and unremarkable sounds, unique for each of us, which weave together to create the aural tapestry of our day-to-day lives.

This album is a collection of some of those sounds which colored the first years of my life. They were carried through budding branches and the screens of open windows; they echoed across snowy hills and auburn valleys criss-crossed with mossy stone walls.

Grab some headphones and step back into the year 2002 into a world of mourning doves and church bells, humming televisions and far-off trains passing in the night — into the quiet calm of Rural Massachusetts.
